Monday Rant: Sweden and Switzerland

These two countries are actually separate and independent, and they don't even share a border. People in these countries don't speak the same language. The politics of the two countries are quite different - both are democracies, but with many important legal and practical differences.

SO WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE GET THEM CONFUSED????

Do you commonly confuse Canada with California? Both also start with the same two letters - and share many other similarities (language, etc) besides. What the hell is wrong with you, if you can't grok the difference between a Nordic country famous for herring dishes, and a mountainous, landlocked country famous for banks??? AAAARGH.

Here are some graphics to help you ignorant, illiterate morons:

This is Switzerland.

This is Sweden.

Notice the differences? STOP CONFUSING YOURSELF OVER 2 GODDAMN LETTERS!

Oh, you also forgot Swaziland... I always get all three of them confused. It's the Swedes that speak Swahili right?

Most people aren't even aware that Swaziland exists.

But, Swaziland will be featured here when / if I do my post about "Great Wacky Dictators of the Modern World".

Turkmenistan (NB: not the same country as Turkey) has the number 1, but North Korea, Swaziland and a bunch of others will also be in there. Two words: Rotating Statue
