Friday Fish (Delayed): Labeo bicolor

OK, so I was lazy and ineffective (at blogging) last Friday. So here's the Friday fish: the red-tail shark, which isn't actually a shark at all (it's a teleost).

I had one of these when I was a child, it did well in a smallish tank with a plecostomus. In my experience, these sharks tend to be a bit more active and interesting to watch than many other aquarium fishes.

I did a Web of Science search for "labeo bicolor" and got only two hits - from 1989 and 1990. I guess these guys are not model organisms for anything. Oh well, I like the way they look - when healthy, they are very striking, completely black with a bright red tail.
