Friday Fish: Peprilus triacanthus

The American Butterfish. I'm really getting tired of these unimaginative, lame common names for fishes, and I might stop reporting them.

Anyway, this species seems not to be highly prized by anglers, commerical fishing operations, or students of vertebrate diversity, as there isn't much information out there about them that I could find in a quick search.

no one fishing for them? I ate butterfish from fish and chip shops in Oz. It was great...that is assuming it wasn't just some appetizing made-up name in an attempt to attract business.
