The first Mars rover, Spirit, has officially passed the 1000 Sols mark on-planet, more than ten times longer than predicted.
Engineers were apparently worried that when the three-digit clock on Spirit rolled past 999 to 000 they'd have a Y2K-style error, but so far, so good. Both Spirit and Opportunity are currently in low-power mode during their local "winter", and will get moving again when incident photon levels climb higher.
Congratulations Spirit and NASA!
