Friday Fish: Carassius auratus auratus
The common goldfish. This is another much-admired species, but it's also interesting from an evolutionary genetics point of view - it's tetraploid. Recent work, primarily by labs in Germany, has demonstrated just how odd the genome of this species, and its relatives, really is.
